Azelaic, our A-list Acid

Blemish Babe Tip: Azelaic was found to be the most effective in its 20% form…that means you may need a prescription if you want to swap from the classic tret, or you can visit your favorite esthi to get a peel with this A-list acid.
Evil Oils?

Blemish Babe Tip: The oils to absolutely avoid at ALL COSTS include: coconut oil, cotton seed oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, soy bean oil, shark liver oil (squalene), cator oil, jojoba oil. This list isn’t exhaustive, but these are common offenders to be aware of!
Click Carefully, Babe

Blemish Babe Tip: If you’re dedicated to investing in your skin, ESPECIALLY with active, strong ingredients, make sure you’re purchasing through an AUTHORIZED RESELLER and getting what you’re paying for.
Stop Blaming SPF

Blemish Babe Tip: Some of my favorite acne-safe sunscreens are by Colorscience. They have a broad range of formulas ranging from matte, glowy, bronzing, with color, or even as a powder!
Treti-NO-in

Blemish BABE tip: Look for a gel-based tretinoin prescription, those often have no pore cloggers. If you are unsure, look at the INACTIVE INGREDIENTS list and paste it into your friendly ingredient checker.
Ice Ice BABE-y

Blemish Babe Tip: TIMING MATTERS! Icing a pimple in the early stages will help the most when your friend is first brewing, so don’t wait until the 4th quarter to ice. 15 minutes max, on/off cycles, and always over a clean barrier (like a paper towel) so you don’t cold-burn the skin.
Hormonal Havoc

I used Allara, a hormone specialist app, to work with a hormone doctor who ordered my tests and prescribed medication. If you prefer the eastern/functional route, look for an IHP or FDN practitioner who can test you and guide you through a more holistic approach.
Pillow Talk and Pimple Panic

I’m Gonna Go Ahead and Say It: I Hate Sleepovers With My New Partner And it has nothing to do with him. I’ve had times before where I wouldn’t let a guy enter my room until all the lights were turned off and he couldn’t see me. Like, hello? Who am I, Princess Fiona? The […]
The Beauty of Cinnamon

Could the flavor-forward, easily identifiable, delicious taste of cinnamon help you on your acne journey? In my experience, I have come to find, yes, it actually can. Although a very small piece to the bigger, freaking complex puzzle of anyone’s acne journey, what I’ve found is, mornings are CRUCIAL when it comes to hormones. From […]
Meet the Molecule: Hypochlorous Acid

I freaking love Hypochlorous Acid spray. Okay, so I absolutely love my Pilates classes and going on a run or afternoon walk, but recently, I’ve been feeling like I have to choose between clear skin (all over) or a toned body. Impossible choice…I know. Every time I work out, I can just feel my pores […]
